Silsila

Some things are built in a hurry. Silsila was not. Eleven hand-turned walnut discs, each shaped and stacked with the patience of a craft that has no deadline — rising from a wide-footed base into a slender column that holds the room without demanding it.

The dark brown shade closes the form — deep earth tones over a warm brass fitting, throwing a low circle of amber light that settles into the room like dusk settling into a courtyard. It belongs in a corner that already has a story, or one that is only just beginning.

Silsila is made to order and crafted by hand in India. Every lamp carries the mark of the karigar who made it — in the grain, in the disc, in the weight of the thing itself.
